After the Jovian Invaders destroy the Mars base and wipe out Earth's space fleets, only one ship can save it: the formidable High Mobile Battleship Nadesico, funded and built by the mysterious Nergal Corporation. But due to a shortage of trained military personnel, the ship's crew is very unorthodox. Its commander, Yurika, is a general's daughter, the top pilot, Akito, is an assistant cook, and they're also childhood friends. The rest of the crew is the largest contingent of geeks and misfits ever assembled. However they're the best hope Earth has to beat the Jovians.
